George Pu

Currently, I am an Applied Scientist at Amazon. Previously, I was a Software Developmer/Engineer (SDE) for 3 years.

Previously, I was a research assistant at the NSF Center for Big Learning at the University of Florida, where I did my undergraduate degree in Computer Science. I published papers on robotics and federated learning.

I am broadly interested in all aspects of deep learning, particularly deep reinforcement learning, robust and scalable intelligent systems, and its applications in robotics. I blog about these topics at https://georgerpu.github.io/blog/ along with other computer science topics, mathematics (my first ), and whatever else I find interesting that week.

In my free time, I enjoy watching and playing sports (mainly and video games), trying new food, reading history and social science, and learning new subjects.

Feb 03, 2025	I am now an Applied Scientist II (AS II) at Amazon! This has been a longstanding dream of mine, and I am so excited that this could happen. I would like to express my gratitude to the mentors and managers who have guided and sponsored me, without whom this would not have been possible.
Sep 18, 2024	Our AWS blog post showcasing some of my team’s work has been published! Thanks to my coauthor (and manager) for her help with the writing and publishing process, to the Amazon Neptune team for the suggestion to write a blog post and support, and to my fellow engineers for their contributions to the project. This is a great example of how we can use graphs to enhance trustworthiness and reliability of online shopping.
